PRS for Music returned to the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town on Thursday 3 March for another installment of the Almost Famous showcase. As ever, the bands went on early to encourage as many music industry visitors to come down as possible.
Just after 7pm, as the crowd reached capacity, Channel Cairo took to the stage. This Anglo-French 5-piece play widescreen rock that’s ready for the summer festival season, ideal for a sunny Glastonbury afternoon. They ended their performance with Elephants, an epic pop/rock classic.
Second up was Tigers That Talked, who had travelled down from Leeds specially for the gig. Their sound filled the venue with haunting and euphoric songs like Artificial Clouds (from their debut album released last year). This was one of their last shows before heading out to SXSW 2011.
Championed by BBC 6 Music, our final act Toodar play intricate and delicate songs over driving rhythms blending gorgeous harmonies, unique guitar lines and spaced-out keyboards. Songs such as Toy and Ten Paces already sound radio-ready, so be ready to hear much more of them. A great finish to a very busy night…
Thanks to our partners Tuborg, Club Fandango and We Got Tickets and of course to all those who came down to support the bands. We’ll see you soon for the next show!
