Interview: Daniel Elms

The New Music Biennial is a PRS for Music Foundation initiative that supports and provides a platform for talented organisations and music creators to push the boundaries of new music in the UK.

The 2017 edition will take place in Hull and feature twenty pieces with a range of composers including Mica Levi, Errollyn Wallen, Sam Lee and Peter Edwards all taking part.

To mark the project, which will culminate in two celebration weekends in Hull and London’s Southbank, the Foundation invited the participants down to the capital to learn more about their commissions and how to stage them.

Daniel Elms, a composer hailing from Hull, was present on the day and chatted to us about his work, Bethia commissioned by the British Film Institute. Listen to our interview with Dan below and visit the New Music Biennial website for all the latest news, videos, pictures and information on the initiative.
