Apply for Birmingham seminar to ‘de-mystify digital’
Birmingham University and Creative Networks are hosting a free workshop on helping music industry professionals ‘de-mystify’ the digital landscape.
Scott Cohen, founder of independent music and video distribution company The Orchard, will lead the event, which takes place at Birmingham City University’s Millennium Point campus on 28 February.
The music industry professional will discuss the changes that the advent of the internet has created and profile artists who have dealt effectively with this change.
A recent Digital Music Nation report by the British Phonographic Industry illustrated the swing from physical sales to digital – out of the 189m music singles sold in the UK during 2012, 99.6 percent of those were from downloads.
From album sales, nearly a third of all sold in the UK were digital – this figure has already risen to over 40 percent in the early stages of 2013.
