30 seconds interview: Wayde

wayde band

New Essex four-piece Wayde are sardonic indie specialists with an appetite for crashing grunge and enveloping shoegaze.

Happy to riff along their own pace, their sound hits a sweet spot somewhere between Husker Du and Brit-pop era Blur.

Now two singles in, with the latest, Easy, out last week, they’re starting to cause a stir on BBC 6 Music and with The 405 and DIY.

We grabbed the gang for 30 seconds to learn that Bob Dylan’s Christmas albums and Chicken Run are their greatest inspiration…

We first started making music because…
Nothing else seemed like fun.

We have been making music together since…
Summer 2k15.

Our music is…
Foot stomping thigh-slapping balls-to-the-wall dangerous.

You’ll like us if you listen to…
Weezer, Elliot Smith, Ty Seagall, sElf, Star Wars.

Our favourite venue is…
The Old Blue Last.

Music is important because…
It made me feel real nice.

Our biggest inspiration is…
Bob Dylan Christmas albums, Chicken Run, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off.

Our dream collaboration would be…
Crazy Frog.

To try us out, listen to our song…
Easy (Don’t Be Long).

If we weren’t making music we’d be…
Probs igniting the flames of a social revolution.

In 10 years’ time we want to be…
Touring, making music and hopefully going somewhere with it.
