Sandi Thom launches indie label
Sandi Thom’s Guardian Angels record label is looking stateside, joining Universal Music Group as InGrooves Fontana’s newest label.
Guardian Angels has been set up as a one-stop shop for every aspect – from cultivating artists to producing and distributing an album. Sandi and her team will handle recording/publishing/management/live-booking/licensing/design/trademarks and merchandising.
Thom describes the label’s ethos as: ‘We give the artist the opportunity to learn their industry and only work with highly capable individuals. It’s not just about the talent – you have to work for everything.’
The label has a publishing deal through P & P Songs and a distribution deal with Nova for the UK and Fontana International for Europe.
Guardian Angels’ diverse roster of artists includes modern classical singer Nika and Scottish hip-hop duo Shy and Drs.
After a series of pioneering webcasts, Sandi Thom had a number one hit in 2006 with I Wish I was Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair). Her debut album Smile… It Confuses People also hit the top spot, selling over 700,000 copies.
