30 seconds interview: Fanfarlo

Baroque pop five-piece Fanfarlo return with their first output in 18 months, setting their sights firmly on the mainstream with the four track EP The Sea. Theatrical opener A Distance is a technicolour disco jam laced with howling sax and arpeggiating synth lines. Like the last Metronomy record, The English Riviera, it takes a knowing glance over its shoulder to early eighties chart life. We spend 30 seconds with them as they gear up to release their third studio album to find out how their sound has evolved.

30 Seconds Interview: Temple Songs

What would happen if The Beatles, Ty Segall and Wavves were melted down and forged into one almighty supergroup? The resulting psychedelic hybrid might sound a lot like rising Manchester four-piece Temple Songs. NME has already compared their music to the early work of Blur, and perhaps rightfully so - there's definitely a touch of acid-tinged baggy in there somewhere. In July they unleashed Passed Caring, their debut single on RIP Records. Noisy in all the right places, its overriding scuzzy sixties aesthetic comes at you like a long lost Nuggets classic.
