New Hiatus collaboration

Electronica artist Hiatus (Cyrus Shahrad) has taken a new direction, collaborating with Matt Falloon, singer of breaking UK soul band Smoke Feathers, for a new song called Change Up.

Dave Barker is a singer and songwriter from Kingston, Jamaica. His classic rocksteady and ska recordings have made him a cult hero around the world.

Buster Shuffle are a 'piano-bashing' English rock 'n' Roll/Ska band whose sound is perhaps a bit like Squeeze, Madness, Blur and Little Richard mixed together and released on Trojan Records.

M meets: Sean Flowerdew

Sean Flowerdew is the organiser of The London International Ska Festival which takes place between 3-6 May. As well as putting on the event, Sean also leads the ska and rock steady band Phoenix City All-stars who draw inspiration from the likes of Studio One and The Skatalites. Sean has also launched new record label Phoenix City Rec.Co.

M meets: The Dualers part two

The Dualers are a dynamic nine-strong ska and reggae band led by Tyber Cranstoun. The band are known for their exhuberant live performances, The Dualers are headlining at the London International Ska Festival on Saturday 5 May.

M meets: Neol Davies aka The Selecter

After learning his craft in local rehearsal spaces and playing in a number of bands, Neol recorded the instrumental ska classic The Selecter which was the first release with Gangsters by The Specials on 2Tone records, the label he co-founded.

Since its birth in the early 1960s in Jamaica, ska music has spread around the globe, inspiring each new generation to draw on it to create something new whether it be reggae, two tone or ska-punk.
