Following last year’s successful inaugural edition, Hull’s leading industry conference, 53 Degrees North, is back in June with music panels, masterclasses, keynote speakers, live showcases and lots more.
The conference takes place at Hull Truck Theatre from 4 to 5 June and is hosted by Warren Youth Project initiative – a creative arts charity that has provided free support services to Hull and East Yorkshire’s most marginalised and vulnerable young people for the past 34 years.
Last year’s conference featured music services such as Spotify and Bandcamp, alongside industry figures such as Nadine Shah, Melvin Benn (Festival Republic) and Vanessa Reed (PRS Foundation). It also hosted showcases at the Adelphi Club featuring artists such as Idles, LIFE, Chiedu Oraka and False Advertising.
53 Degrees North’s Stewart Baxter said: ‘Last year’s conference and live shows were a huge success and really established something vital and exciting which Hull has been crying out for. Having that caliber of people and conversation in Hull for the first time led to some huge developments and we can’t wait to reveal the 2018 schedule and new developments.’
Sponsors for the event include PRS for Music, PPL, Keychange, PRS Foundation, DIY magazine and The Joe Strummer Foundation.
Tickets cost £5 per day and are available now at www.53degreesmusic.com.
