PRS launches composers’ career development programme

PRS for Music

PRS for Music is inviting composers to apply for Accelerate, a new career development initiative in partnership with the Berkeley Ensemble.

Up to eight composers will have the opportunity to develop new works throughout 2018 on the programme, which includes two all-day workshops and a concert.

Pieces must be written for the Berkeley Ensemble, comprising two violins, a viola, cello, double bass, clarinet, bassoon and horn.

Guidance will be offered by composer and educator John Woolrich throughout, with additional career skills workshops on publishing, recording, promotion and funding from industry professionals.

Accelerate is open to composers of all levels of experience who are both PRS members and interested in developing their careers.

There is no age limit and the scheme welcomes applications from all levels of experience and genre, provided the music can be written in Western notation or graphic score.

The career skills workshops will be scheduled in early 2018 after discussion with selected composers.

To apply, send two contrasting examples of your work in PDF format and a completed application form by email to PRS for Music’s classical account manager, Harriet Wybor (harriet.wybor@prsformusic.com), by 9am on 12 December 2017.

Please ensure your name and any identifying features are removed from the score and application form, as these will be assessed anonymously by an independent selection panel.

Successful composers will be notified on 12 January 2018.
