CirKT launches new talent development programme

The project offers artists from South West London opportunities to perform at a range of venues and spaces across the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames in 2019.

The borough has been awarded the Mayor of London’s Cultural Impact Award and CirKT will deliver a music programme designed to promote live music across the area.

As part of CirKT’s talent development programme artist will be part of a high-profile music programme supported by the London Mayor and have the opportunity to reach new audiences through performance platforms.

Artists will also receive press and marketing support, access to industry advice and training, workshops and events.

The project will give artists the chance to network with industry peers and work with professional stage managers, sound technicians and event menagers to support their performance.

Participants will also be eligible to be considered for the Spotlight Award, which will give five acts a package of support providing professional training, guidance and mentoring.

The package includes a bursary of up to £500 plus artist mentoring, PR and marketing, touring information and advice, network building, technical support and training.

A panel comprised of Novelist, Dave Maclean (Django Django), Chantelle Fiddy (music journalist and creative) and Tom Baker (Founder of Eat Your Own Ears and Field Day festival) will listen to applicants work and review applications.

To be eligible to apply for CirKT’s talent development programme artists must be working within contemporary music genres, such as rock, pop, R&B, grime, hip-hop, folk, electronic, garage, dance, world music, soul, jazz.

Applicants must have a connection to Kingston, or its neighbouring boroughs of Richmond, Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton or Surrey, and have some experience of recoding and/or performing.

Artists should be able to provide links to your work via online platforms, commit to the specified projects dates and be over 18 and eligible to work in the UK.
