Calling all composers: do you have an orchestral work that has never been performed? Entries are now open for the Basel Composition Competition (BCC) – find out how to apply here…
The international event is held biennially in collaboration with the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel to honour works for chamber and symphony orchestra.
Following the inaugural BCC in February 2017, the next competition will be held from 20 to 24 February 2019 under the directorship of Swiss composer Michael Jarrell.
Twelve shortlisted pieces will be premiered by the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Sinfonietta, with the winning three entries awarded a combined prize total of CHF 100,000 (over £70,000).
The competition is open to participants of any age or nationality. The BCC will consider chamber and symphony orchestra works which have never previously been performed.
All applicants are requested to submit their scores without their name, in order for the judging process to remain anonymous.
Applications must be submitted before 31 May 2018. For more details and to apply, visit the BCC website.
