Grants available for UK artists in British Council’s UK-Russia year of Music

The UK-Russia Year of Music will be launched in March and the British Council has announced an open call for applications from UK artist for grants of up to £5,000 to enable individuals to travel to Russia to develop collaborative ideas and relationships.

Applicants are expected to have an existing interest in or contact with Russia and have a strong project idea.

Applications may also be considered from individuals who haven’t previously worked with Russian partners, but who have partners in mind or ones who have already committed to the project.

The programme will run to April 2020 and is designed to build on the successes of the UK-Russia Years of Culture in 2014, the UK-Russia Year of Language and Literature in 2016, and the UK-
Russia Year of Science and Education in 2017.

The initiative is set to celebrate the UK and Russia’s rich musical cultures and traditions by supporting contacts between the two countries.

The deadline for applications is 21 February 2019, and successful applicants will be chosen by the beginning of March 2019 with grants transferred to recipient’s accounts by 31 March.
