BASCA is hosting a special event to help composers learn all there is to know about commissions and how to secure future opportunities.
Taking place 5 September at King’s Place, the event will see a panel of experts such as Roger Wright, Aldeburgh Music chief executive, Ann McKay from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, George Vass from Prestige Festival and Katie Tearle (Peters Edition) explore the challenges and opportunities facing classical composers.
The event will see the panel explore who the commissioners are, who get them, how composers can find them and what commissioners look for.
According to BASCA, the event will see the panel discuss ‘their approaches, policies and recommendations’.
The event will be timely as commissions and payment for work is still seen as an issue for composers, according to Sound and Music’s recent report.
