Calling all students, creators, policy-makers and more: CISAC and FutureLearn’s free online course exploring copyright begins its third run on 9 October.
A must for anyone interested in the ins and outs of copyright, the four-week course will examine issues such as how authors’ rights have contributed to domestic and economic growth through the centuries, and how the concept of having an author connected to their works through rights was first developed and has evolved over time.
Open to all skill levels, Exploring Copyright: History, Culture, Industry is available for free and can provide a certification upon completion of course requirements.
CISAC director general Gadi Oron described copyright education as ‘one of the building blocks for the present and future of the creative industries’ and added that it is, ‘often not properly understood and creators often face resistance from commercial interests that try and devalue copyright.
‘CISAC, with its global reach and deep expertise in authors rights, is ideally placed to bring copyright education to the public in every corner of the world.’
