Record Store Day’s unsigned competition opens for entries

Calling unsigned bands and artists: fancy having your music pressed to vinyl and stocked in indie record stores nationwide? Record Store Day returns for its 12th edition in 2019 and has announced details of its unsigned competition – read on to find out more…

Hosted with vinyl manufactures Sound Performance, #RSDUnsigned gives one unsigned band or artist the chance to have their music pressed to 500 vinyl records, as well as secure a one-year distribution deal with Proper Music.

To enter, acts must simply fill out an online form and include a link to a video. The winning artist will be chosen by a panel including Jamie Oborne (head of Dirty Hit), Chris Marksberry (managing director of Sound Performance) and Natasha Youngs (co-owner of Resident Music in Brighton).

Record Store Day takes place on Saturday 13 April 2019, with hundreds of limited-edition vinyl releases created exclusively for the occasion, as well as free live performances and parties taking place up and down the country.
