The Know How, an annual series of free music industry seminars in the North-East of England takes place between 23-26 May. All the seminars take place between 6pm – 8pm.
The seminars are hosted by Generator at Stage 2, Northern Stage in Newcastle.
The event kicks off on 23 May with Transmission hosted by Radio 1 DJ & BBC Introducing host, Huw Stephens. The seminar will examine the past, present and future role of music broadcasting (TV, radio and new technologies), and identify existing and new opportunities for emerging artists to get noticed. The seminar is followed by a ‘Huw Stephens presents’ gig at The Other Rooms, Newcastle from 8pm.
Who Develops Our Artists? takes place on 24 May. Chaired by Generator’s CEO Jim Mawdsley, a panel including Paul Smith – Maximo Park’s frontman, Jim Chancellor, MD at Fiction Records and Cerne Canning from Supervision Management looks at where talent development comes from now.
25 May’s seminar asks ‘What does the term ‘scene’ mean?’. DJ and journalist Bill Brewster is joined by Ralph Lawson and Luke Una.
The Beggars Group Story rounds off the series. Martin Mills MBE, sole owner and Chairman of the Beggars Group will take part in the ‘In conversation’ sessions with BPI Chairman, Tony Wadsworth.
