Making Music launches Young Concert Artists award

Making MusicVoluntary organisation Making Music has launched its Young Concert Artists Awards to find the next generation of classical talent.

The competition is open to both vocalists and instrumentalists aged 21-27 with with six winning places available.

Up-and-coming classical musicians will be able to take advantage of performing opportunities with Making Music’s 3,000 member groups. In return, these voluntary music groups are able to book musicians at reduced rates, with Making Music paying a subsidy for every engagement.

Joseph Houston, 2013 award winner, said: ‘Being a part of the Making Music Award for Young Concert Artist scheme has been a pleasure from start to finish.

‘It’s not about the financial and calendar-filling perks, but the musical experiences themselves: the wonderful variety of Britain’s music clubs, the enthusiastic audiences, and often idyllic settings have provided me with some of the most memorable of all my performances in recent years.’

Musicians looking to take part have until Friday 20 February 2015 make a submission.
