Free folk songwriting masterclass

bbc biggest weekend

Calling all songwriters and composers in Central Scotland – award-winning folk musician Rachel Newton is hosting a free masterclass for the BBC’s Biggest Weekend.

The BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year 2017 and multi-instrumentalist will conduct a masterclass in composing and traditional arranging on 24 May at Perth Concert Hall.

The session, co-hosted by PRS for Music, forms part of the Biggest Weekend Fringe, a 10-day outreach programme which will take place in the lead up to the Biggest Weekend on 24 to 27 May.

Following Newton’s composition session, she’ll take part in a Q&A with Stuart Fleming, PRS for Music’s senior membership manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
