Jazz saxophonist Trish Clowes has launched a Kickstarter campaign to commission new works for her Emulsion Festival.
2017 will be the fifth edition of the event, which is due to be held in Birmingham in January 2017.
Emulsion will be take place in partnership with the Birmingham Conservatoire and Birmingham City University but is looking for backing to enable new works to be commissioned for the event.
In a post on the Kickstarter website, the event organisers said: ‘Kickstarter donations will enable new commissions/arrangements for Emulsion from Hans Koller, Percy Pursglove and Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian. All three composers are unique. Hans and Percy are highly integrated and important members of the Birmingham jazz scene. Cevanne is currently Composer in Residence with the London Symphony Orchestra.
‘If we surpass our initial £2,000 target we will be able to programme additional guest appearances from musicians such as saxophonists Iain Ballamy and Joe Wright and Cevanne (as a harpist) who will greatly add to the diversity of sounds and experience for the audience.’
