What? Left-field dance music with an injection of noise-rock and punk.
From where? Bristol.
What’s the story? Formed in 2017, the Bristol four-piece seemed to readily absorb the city’s rich dance music history while embracing the punk spirit of contemporaries like IDLES.
The genre-busting band swiftly built an impressive live reputation off the back of their audio-visual shows and the visceral nature of their harsh electronic and experimental noise-rock hybrid creations.
Those immersive early gigs earned the band spots at Simple Things and Arctangent festivals as well as support slots for Holy Fuck, Marie Davidson and Ho9909.
In 2018 Scalping signed to the Council Records imprint and played at the label’s launch night at London’s 100 Club.
On 1 March this year the band put out their debut release through the label. The three track Chamber EP featured the original mix and October remix of the title track as well as a Bruce remix of their song Satan II
The rest of 2019 will see Scalping hitting the road in support of their new release with spots at Liverpool Sound City, Green Man, Test Pressing Festival, Bluedot Festival and many more.
