fizzy blood band

Who? Fizzy Blood are Benji Inkley, Paul Howells, Jake Greenway, Ciaran Scanlon and Tim Malkin.

What? Melodic indie-rock.

From where? Leeds.

What’s the story? Fizzy Blood have had a cracking 2018 so far, emerging as one of the most essential new guitar bands currently tickling the UK airwaves.

But their story didn’t start this year, or even in 2017 – they’ve been cooking up a racket since 2014.

With monster choruses, punk howls and just the right amount of scuzz, they mess with the boundaries between metal, rock and indie.

Along the way, they’ve cut their teeth at festivals including Download, Reading/Leeds, Y Not, The Great Escape and SXSW, and supported Dead Kennedys, Dinosaur Pile-Up and Spring King.

Their latest EP, Pink Magic, landed last Friday. Recorded in Brighton with producer Alex Newport (Bloc Party, Tigercub, The Mars Volta), it captures Fizzy Blood’s most self-assured side as they play around with a more effervescent sound.

The title track landed on the BBC Radio 1 playlist in June, adding to plaudits they’ve already had from the likes of Kerrang! Magazine and radio, Amazing Radio, Planet Rock Radio and Fred Perry Subculture.

This week, they’ll be airing their sound live at the Brudenell Games Room in Leeds (19 September) and the Boston Music Room in London (21 September). Don’t miss them!

Sounds like? Rampant rock meets popped-out punk.

Predicted to? Reach Slaves and Royal Blood status in the very near future…

Must hear? Pink Magic
