Who? Pillow Person is the debut solo adventure of Hot Chip drummer Sarah Jones.
What? Pert, bleep-heavy pop perfection.
From where? London.
What’s the story? Sarah cut her teeth playing in bands with her dad and his mates as a kid, before joining new rave outfit New Young Pony Club in 2005.
From there she’s lent her stick skills to Bat For Lashes, experimental noiseniks Geese and now Hot Chip and NCZA Lines.
For Pillow Person, Sarah treads a stripped back path, layering vocals and skittish beats until they fold in on themselves.
With her first track, Go Ahead, apparently coming to her in a dream fully formed, Sarah’s subconscious songwriting is match-fit and bang on point.
Combining syncopated electronics with fiendishly catchy melodies, she’s intuitively landed on the perfect equation for bouncy sunshine pop.
Don’t miss her brilliant debut single, Go Ahead, when it lands this Friday (19 August) via Moshi Moshi.
Sounds like? Your perfect summertime soundtrack.
Predicted to? Come into her own as a solo force to be reckoned with.
Must hear? Go Ahead, plus cracking B side In My Game.
