Music Venue Trust (MVT) has announced the launch of The Sandbox – a brand new interactive area at Venues Day 2017 which will connect the UK’s top agents and grassroots music venues.
The ‘speed dating’ concept will give representatives from grassroots venues the chance to spend 10 minutes networking directly with agents who represent new and emerging artists.
Mark Davyd of MVT said: ‘One of the main things we learned from our regional meetings last year was some venues, particularly in unusual or rural locations, feel under-used and lack the connections to access great artists.
‘We have so many venues that could benefit from this, we’re going to use a speed dating format to try and give as many of them the opportunity as possible. We aren’t expecting any marriages, but it could be the start of some beautiful and productive friendships’ he said.
Each agency will be allocated a booth in the MVT VIP area at Venues Day 2017. To ensure that the meetings are useful, MVT will match rosters to venues ahead of the event and coordinate ten minute meet and greet slots on the day.
Featuring a one-day programme of panels, sessions, workshops, one-to-one advice and opportunities, Venues Day is the only national networking event for grassroots music venues and related professions.
This year’s event takes place on 17 October at London’s Ministry of Sound. For tickets and further information, visit the Music Venue Trust website.
