The inaugural Fightback Bristol festival will celebrate the city’s grassroots music venues over two weeks in February.
The festival was devised to encourage audiences to support local venues, which form the foundation of British music but have faced increased threats of closure over the last decade.
The two-week event will take place across 14 sites including some of Bristol’s most iconic venues like Colston Hall, Thekla, and The Fleece.
Over 100 events have already been confirmed with acts like Poppy Ackroyd, Bill Ryder Jones, and White Denim appearing at Fightback Bristol.
The festival is organised by the charitable organisation Music Venue Trust (MVT) and will take place from 4 February to 18 February 2019.
Gary Posser of MVT says: ‘These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in Bristol, providing spaces where artists can take their first steps, develop and grow. Fightback Bristol provides an opportunity to showcase the fantastic range of artists and venues that Bristol enjoys, celebrating the history of our music scene and supporting its future.’
