Cheryl Cole makes chart history with I Don’t Care

Official Charts CompanyCheryl Cole has claimed the record for most number ones as a female artist after hitting the top spot with latest single I Don’t Care.

According to the Official Charts Company, the X-Factor judge and solo has overtaken the previous record of four number ones jointly held by Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora.

Cheryl has reached the top spot with Fight For This Love (2009), Promise This (2010), Call My Name (2012) and Crazy Stupid Love (2014) as well as her latest release.

Singer songwriter Ed Sheeran is currently at number two in the singles charts with Thinking Out Loud. Last week the song, which topped the official singles chart after 19 weeks in the top 40, reached number one after the longest climb in chart history.

Despite falling from the top spot, Ed has also broken the record for the most audio streams in a single week, clocking up 1,638,000 streams in the last seven days.

Meanwhile, in the album charts the acclaimed singer songwriter has reclaimed the top spot this week with his second album X.

The singer overtakes midweek leader Calvin Harris to return to number one 12 weeks after its eight-week stay at the top in July and August this year.
