Chilingirian Quartet launches annual summer school

Chilingirian-summer-schoolChilingirian Quartet has announced details of its 32nd annual summer school and concert programme at West Dean College near Chichester.

This week-long Summer School offers amateur, young professional or student quartets or ensembles the chance to work closely with the renowned Chilingirian Quartet from 12 to 18 July. All musicians must be Grade 8 equivalent or above to attend.

The programme includes intensive daily coaching, masterclasses, one-to-one tuition, dedicated practice space and time, informal concerts and the chance to hear the Chilingirian Quartet in concert.

There are also opportunities for individual string players with a love of quartet music, but who are not currently in a quartet. They will receive mentoring for members of the Chilingirian Quartet and study alongside the pre-formed groups.

Bursaries are available for young quartets at the beginning of their careers. These are made possible through Friends of the Chilingirian Quartet and The Edward James Foundation.

The college is located within the heart of the South Downs near Chichester and has been awarded Grade II* listed status by English Heritage.
