Community choirs return to Roundhouse

RoundhouseMore than 30 community choirs from around the UK will descend on the legendary Roundhouse venue in London for the Voices Now festival.

The choirs will perform on the Making Music Open Stage later this month, having been selected by the Making Music charity.

Chosen choirs include innovative Wiltshire-based male voice choir the Magnificent AK47, voice and percussion quartet SoundSphere and the City Shanty Band. They will appear alongside more traditional choirs such as Noctis and Collegium Musicum of London.

All will appear on the same stage as high profile artists including Ivor Award-winning Imogen Heap, the BBC Singers and the Hilliard Ensemble, and will also perform in public spaces throughout the Roundhouse.

The Voices Now festival takes place from 20 to 23 June and includes more than 2,000 performers and 65 singing groups. There will be free workshops and talks focusing on writing new music for choirs. For more information, please visit www.roundhouse.org.uk/voices-now-2013.
