The global campaign, dubbed Feeling the Street, is asking musicians to enter clips of their own original performances to feelingthestreet.com.
An international online audience will then choose their favourite performers from the hundreds on offer and help to decide which six individuals come together in a global street band.
The competition is open for entries until 20 May 2015.
The winning musicians will travel to New Zealand for a nine day tour in June. Six members of the voting public will also be selected as ‘roadies’ to travel with the band.
The initiative is sponsored by Toyota and aims to celebrate and honour the world’s best buskers.
