Fancy getting your hands on a pair of tickets to see Hak Baker, Flamingods and Blue Lab Beats at the next PRS for Music Presents event? Thought so! Read on to find out how to enter…
The trio descend on PRS for Music’s Streatham offices on 12 April for a night of unique, intimate performances under the society’s PRS for Music Presents… banner.
Championed by the likes of Skepta, Annie Mac, Matt Wilkinson and Huw Stephens, Hak Baker is an MC turned folk singer and guitarist whose stripped-back sound and quick-witted east London charm has been catching on fast. Debut EP Misfits, released in November last year, had spins from BBC Radio 1 and now he’s gearing up for a busy summer of festival appearances. Catch him up close before he gets massive.
Flamingods have been lighting up the musical underground with their multi-limbed, ‘exotic psychedelia’ ever since 2009. Energetic, colourful performances and a melting pot of sonic styles makes their sound pretty hard to resist, as evidenced by their releases on an array of reputable indies including Moshi Moshi, Soundway, Art is Hard and Shape. Taking inspiration from influences from Western psychedelia, jazz and indie and using a vast selection of instruments from the Middle East and Asia, the band’s live show is unmissable.
Last up, genre-bending duo Blue Lab Beats are part of London’s booming contemporary jazz scene, throwing grime, hip hop, neo-soul and Carribean music into their melting pot of influences. They released their debut EP, Blue Skies, in 2016 and have since scaled jazz charts in the UK, Europe and Japan and packed out shows including London’s iconic Ronnie Scott’s.
PRS for Music has 10 pairs of tickets up for grabs. The competition deadline is 4pm on Friday 6 April 2018. Winners will be notified by email.
