EFG London Jazz Festival 2014 announces line up

EFGlondonjazzwebGuy Barker, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Georgie Fame are among the artists opening the 2014 edition of the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Composer and conductor Guy will be leading Jazz Voice on 14 November at the Barbican to kick off the 10 day event.

The concert will see a range of vocalists including Jacob Banks, Sachal and Kurt Elling perform alongside a 40-piece orchestra.

Other highlights from the programme include jazz vocalist Ian Shaw and his performance of 100 Years of British Song on 20 November at London’s Southbank.

Ian will be joined by a multi-generational team of renowned singers and players to showcase the UK’s songwriting tradition as part of PRS for Music’s centenary celebrations.

The festival will also see Blue Note Records, the label perhaps most synonymous with jazz legends past and present, celebrating 75 years.

Almost a third of the programme is free for all audiences or designed specifically for young people and families with 68 different venues hosting jazz events as part of the programme.

Alongside Ian’s event, PRS for Music will also be celebrating its 100 year anniversary at the festival with another concert on 20 November, Movers and Shakers: The art of the British jazz group.
