The Ivors Composer Awards, formerly known as The British Composer Awards, are now open for entries across 12 categories.
The PRS for Music sponsored awards have 12 categories across classical, jazz and sound art and anyone, including the composer, can enter eligible works which are then judged anonymously.
The Ivors Composer Awards recognise excellence in composition and are designed to promote the art of composition and support the creative talent of composers and sound artists.
The British Composer Awards were launched in 2003 to celebrate exceptional talent in classical, jazz and sonic art composition, and as of 2019 will be known as The Ivors Composer Awards.
All eligible submissions are reviewed by juries specifically appointed by Ivors Academy, and the awards are presented by fellow composers and songwriters to their peers at a ceremony on Wednesday 4 December 2019.
To be eligible to enter works must have received either a live or broadcast UK premiere between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019.
The 12 eligible categories are:
Solo or Duo
Jazz Composition for Small Ensemble
Jazz Composition for Large Ensemble
Wind Band or Brass Band
Community or Educational Project
Amateur or Young Performers
Each entry has a £10 administration fee and the closing date is Friday 12 July 2019.
