Keychange announces debut at SXSW 2019

PRS Foundation’s Keychange initiative is hosting its first ever keynote at SXSW 2019, with Shirley Manson from Garbage in conversation with Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry (pictured).

The pair will host a Keynote Conversation in association with the Keychange programme, which encourages greater diversity and female representation in festival line-ups.

Manson is best known as the lead vocalist of the critically-acclaimed alt-rock band Garbage and has been recording and performing for more than 30 years.

They are currently working on their seventh album and will hit the road later this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their Grammy Award-nominated sophomore album Version 2.0.

Mayberry is singer, songwriter and frontwomen of Scottish electronic pop trio Chvrches, who have released three albums and toured the world.

She has continuously challenged stereotypes and us unafraid to speak out about the role and treatment of female artists within the music industry.

The announcement of Keychange’s involvement forms part of a wider reveal of the SXSW convention programme.

Also in the diary are keynotes and sessions from Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, musician Amanda Palmer and blockchain trailblazers Ari Paul (CIO, Blocktower) and Kyle Samani (Multicoin Capital).
