music and sound awards

Calling all screen composers and music publishers – the Music+Sound Awards is calling for submissions for its eighth annual ceremony.

The event is now taking entries for best composition and best sound design in categories including short films, feature films, branding and trailers, online, TV and more.

Work must have been first broadcast or released, or completed in the case of short films, between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019.

All entries will be vetted by a panel of independent experts, such as composers Lesley Barber (Manchester By the Sea) and Guy Farley, Itamar Shafrir (Universal Music Publishing) and Rebecca Williams (Saatchi & Saatchi).

For submissions, which are welcomed from now until 29 March, and more info about categories and eligibility criteria, see PRS for Music members are entitled to an entry discount.

Emma Maguire, Sound+Music Awards director, said: ‘We’re proud to be here for an eighth year, shouting about the true importance of music and sound in bringing any production to life and giving individuals and companies the opportunity to showcase their creative excellence on a global platform.

‘Our stellar jury this year, with the competition’s foundations of integrity and transparency, will ensure that, once again, the best of the best are revealed and celebrated. We would like to thank our ever-growing community for all their support and encouragement and to wish everyone who enters the very best of luck.’

Last year’s winners included composers Hugo de Chaire, Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and David Fleming, plus Domino Publishing and music supervisor Pete Saville.
