Frank Turner to host OneFest at London’s Roundhouse

Onefest

Frank Turner is to host OneFest at London’s Roundhouse in May, offering a range of live performances and panels.

Taking place at London’s Roundhouse venue 12-15 May, the event is a series of daytime panels and workshops, with Frank Turner taking over each evening to headline four Lost Evenings events.

Collaborating with Arts Council England, OneFest provides a platform for emerging new talent to inspire, support and develop a new generation of artists, performers and music industry professionals through the creation of genuine opportunities and practical experience in the music industry.

Daytime Panels include The Business, Women & The Industry, Getting Gigs, Mental Health, Erasing the Stigma, Digital Generation, How to Access Funding and a keynote speech from Radio 1’s Gemma Cairney.

OneFest will be part-produced by a cohort of six young adults aged 18-25 currently undertaking professional development programmes in the festival industry. Designed by The Hub, they are provided with training and access to key roles across the event – in panel and stage programming, artist liaison, digital marketing and business affairs.

Frank Turner said: ‘As an artist who worked their way up from the ground floor, I totally understand the challenges involved in carving out a meaningful and sustainable career within the music industry.

‘OneFest plays a critical role in helping young talent get their first significant break, along with arming them with the tools and the knowledge to get ahead. I’m delighted to be collaborating with OneFest as I recognise only too well the importance of opportunity and the right kind of support to help new and young talent into the business.’

The ‘Nick Alexander’ Stage – named in memory of the merchandise manager and long-time friend of Frank’s, who was tragically killed in the Bataclan, Paris attack in 2015 – plays host to some of the best emerging acts all hand-picked by Frank and Radio X’s John Kennedy. This includes Music Glue competition winner Harry Pane, who was whittled from over 800 entries by the cohort, Frank and a public poll for a collaboration with Frank Turner.

As well as OneFest and Lost Evenings activities, a full programme of satellite events, under the title of Last Minutes will take place at various venues in Camden. The Hawley Arms, The Monarch, Lock Tavern and Dingwalls will host special live performances, late night DJ sets, after parties, meet ups and food deals.
