The high street retailer has revealed its plans to open The HMV Vault in mid-October close to Birmingham’s city centre.
The store is set to span 125,000 square feet and stock an unrivalled range of music, film, merchandise and tech products.
The store will feature a dedicated vinyl area filled with thousands of albums and will cater to specialist music lovers with a huge range of jazz, folk, country, blues and world music being made available.
The HMV Vault will be home to a permanent stage area and PA sound system for bands to showcase their new releases as part of a regular programme of in-store performances and signing sessions planned each week.
The announcement comes as HMV approaches its 100th anniversary and follow Doug Pitman’s acquisition of HMV earlier in the year.
The businessman is also the chief executive of the Canadian retail chain Sunrise Records, which he acquired in 2014 and grew from five stores to 84 branches. He subsequently took over HMV Canada two years later.
