Green Man

Green ManLondon-based group Hunck have been named as the victors of the Green Man Rising competition, winning a slot opening the festival’s main stage.

The group were judged to be the best from a six-act line up of finalists at a gig at London’s Dublin Castle on 1 July.

Hunck managed to impress an industry panel consisting of Phil Alexander (Mojo), Molly O’Brien (Beggars Banquet Publishing), Michael McClatchey (Moshi Moshi), Claire Reilly (The Agency Group) and Jack Shankly (Domino Records).

Fiona Stewart, Green Man’s director, told Wales Online: ‘The judging process this year was incredibly tough – all of the bands were equally fantastic. We were so overwhelmed by the talent tonight that we’ve asked each of the bands to play at this year’s festival.’

Other acts on the bill included The Boy I Used To Be, The Carraways, Girl Ray, Kidsmoke and Seazoo.

Taking place 20-23 August, the Green Man will welcome the likes of Hot Chip, Super Furry Animals and Goat to the Brecon Beacons in Wales.
