Taking place on Thursday 10 September in collaboration with BBC Radio 4, the event is based on the musician and broadcaster’s BBC Radio 4 series Wireless Nights. In the show Jarvis explores the human condition after dark.
The event will see Jarvis perform alongside the BBC Philharmonic including songs by Tim Buckley, Echo and the Bunnymen, and the Beatles.
An eclectic mix of music from the likes of Bach, John Williams, Saint-Sa?ns, Wagner and Debussy will also be performed.
Commenting, Jarvis said: ‘Ahoy there, Captain Jarvis Cocker here, inviting you to a special Wireless Nights Prom, on 10 September. For one night only, the Royal Albert Hall will be transformed into a gigantic diving bell, taking us on a voyage to the bottom of the sea, a voyage to the bottom of ourselves.
‘Joining me on board we have a champion free diver, a giant squid hunter, two men called Roger, psychologist Carl Jung and the BBC Philharmonic.’
The Wireless Nights Prom, in collaboration with BBC Radio 4, is the last of a series of special Late Night Proms.
