Jazzie B named ‘London Legend’

Jazzie B logoSoul II Soul founder Jazzie B has received the London Legend accolade at the first London Music Awards.

Taking place at London’s Roundhouse last night (11 June), the event was set up to recognise the contribution of individual talents who have helped cement the city’s reputation as one of the world’s music capitals.

Alongside Jazzie B, Sir Antonio Pappano, musical director of the Royal Opera and the Orchestra of the Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, received the exceptional contribution to music award. Elsewhere Kimberly Anne from Bromley won the PRS for Music-sponsored Young Composer/Songwriter award.

The event was organised to raise money for the Mayor’s Music Fund. In two years since it was set up, the charity has given out grants worth £1.3m, benefitting over 14,000 young musicians.
