Jen Long appointed Youth Music Ambassador

JenLongforwebJen Long, presenter of BBC Introducing on Radio 1, has been appointed as an ambassador for the National Foundation for Youth Music.

She joins Bill Bailey, Myleene Klass, Goldie and others as ambassadors for the charity.

Her career includes gig promoter, tour managing, editing quarterly music magazine Zero Core and running her own label, Kissability.

Jen said: ‘I’m delighted to become an ambassador for Youth Music. From my own personal experience, I know how hard many aspiring musicians have to work to develop their craft and get noticed.

‘Youth Music helps thousands of young people every year, providing them with opportunities to learn and make music. Very importantly, they work across all music genres, giving young people a real chance to develop their musical interests.’

‘I’m particularly passionate about encouraging young women to get involved in music and choose it as a career option as I feel we are under-represented in the industry,’ she added.

Jen is one of the creators of Cassette Store Day. The event takes place on 7 September and is a day celebrating music on cassette tape. Read the full story about the initiative.
