Laura Mvula favourite to win Mercury Music Prize

Laura MvulaLaura Mvula, Birmingham singer songwriter, is now favourite to win this year’s Mercury Music Prize.

The classically trained songstress, who was nominated for her debut album Sing to the Moon, has achieved what bookies William Hill are describing as ‘the biggest price move in history’.

A spokesperson for the bookies said: ‘We have been betting on this award for two decades and nobody can remember a price move like it.’

‘It looks like the market underestimated her and if she goes on to win we are going to have a shocker.’

Laura, who was our M cover star earlier this year, leads the likes of Disclosure (3/1) and one of this year’s surprise returns from David Bowie (11/2).
