The artists will be among more than 85 taking part in the festival.
This year’s event runs 18-27 July across eight different venues including the Soup Kitchen and Manchester’s Central Library.
Lonnie Liston Smith, Kristyna Miles and the Dorian Ford Quartet are among the other highlights from this year’s calendar.
Previously, fast emerging Manchester guitarist and composer Anton Hunter has been announced as winner of the Irwin Mitchell mfj originals commission.
He will write Article 11, a suite of music for an 11 piece ensemble to be premiered at mfj in July.
Earlier in the year Anton said: ‘This commission is amazing news for me and I’m tremendously excited to be given the mjf originals commission for 2014. It’s come at just the right time to boost my career as a writer and player. mjf is a fantastic supporter of Manchester music and of new ideas. I can’t wait to get started!’
