PRS Foundation has announced a new partnership with Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh government to launch the Momentum Music Fund in Wales.
The new partnership means that Welsh artists at the right stage in their career can apply for Momentum support of between £5,000 to £15,000 to aid their development.
This follows the announcement last month that Creative Scotland has also become a Momentum Music Fund partner.
Artists based anywhere in the whole of the UK can now apply for Momentum funding to support activities such as recording, touring and marketing.
The next deadline for application submissions is 29 May at 6pm. To find out more, visit http://prsfoundation.com/funding-support/funding-music-creators/next-steps/momentum-music-fund.
Vanessa Reed, PRS Foundation chief executive, said: ‘We’re delighted to announce this new partnership which will extend and strengthen our pioneering Momentum Music Fund.
‘This collaboration between Welsh government, Arts Council of Wales and Creative Scotland with PRS Foundation, PPL and Spotify is a great example of the music industry collaborating with government as proposed by the recent DCMS and BEIS Creative Industries Sector Deal. I’m sure this will have a transformational impact on Welsh musicians over the coming years and I look forward to seeing the diverse range of Welsh acts that apply.’
Since 2013 the Momentum Music Fund has supported over 270 artists, 160 new albums and more than 170 tours totalling over 1,000 UK live dates.
The fund boasts huge success stories including Anna Meredith, Years & Years, Little Simz, Public Service Broadcasting, Bugzy Malone, Yungen, Lapsley and Oh Wonder.
