Mumdance (pictured), Violet Skies and Juliet Hudson are among the talent selected for PRS Foundation’s Writer Producer Fund.
A total of nine music-makers will receive support to develop their careers with grants of up to £10,000. The other recipients include Sinai Tedros, The FaNaTiX, TK The Producer, Seton Lloyd Daunt, Stefan Abingdon and Charlotte Haining.
The funding is intended to support a number of different creative and professional activities including recording, musician fees, attendance of songwriter camps and sessions, training/skills courses and maternity/child care costs.
Violet Skies said: ‘The Writer Producer Fund provided to me by the lovely PRS Foundation and BASCA Trust is a career-changing amount of money that will allow me to continue writing where I’m needed, with no financial barriers.
‘I work all over the world and this will allow me to continue doing so, as well as allowing me to run sheWrites, not-for-profit all female writing camps, internationally.’
Bhavesh Patel, programme manager at PRS Foundation, added: ‘We have already seen many of the writers we’ve supported through this fund going on to work on big tracks, and a few sign major publishing deals.
‘Supporting these behind-the-scenes writers and producers at a tipping point means they can realise their full potential and allowing UK writers to put their imprint on the worldwide music market.’
The scheme launched last year in partnership with the BASCA Trust, the British Academy of Songwriters Composers and Authors’ (BASCA) independent charity.
