Sam Smith Writing's on the wallSam Smith and songwriting partner Jimmy Napes have won a Golden Globe for their Bond song, Writing’s on the Wall.

Taking place in Los Angeles last night (10 January), the awards are chosen by 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to recognise excellence in both film and television.

Sam and Jimmy took the award for Best Original Song for their contribution to the latest James Bond film, Spectre.

Writing’s on the Wall was written by the pair following their extraordinary chart success with Sam’s debut album In the Lonely Hour and work with Disclosure.

Other musical winners included composer Ennio Morricone for his score to the new Quentin Tarantino film, The Hateful Eight.
