PRS for Music members J Hus, Stefflon Don (pictured), Stormzy and Davido have all received a nod at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, with Davido taking home a prize.

The Nigerian pop star thanked his listeners at home when picking up the trophy for Best International Act in Los Angeles yesterday (24 June), adding that Africa as a continent ‘has been so blessed.’

He also urged greater collaborations between African and Western musicians during his acceptance speech.

The BET Awards, which were established by Black Entertainment Television nearly 20 years ago to recognise the best in African American culture, always include an international category for influential black music from outside the US.

UK artists Stefflon Don, Stormzy and J Hus were nominated this year, alongside acts including Dadju (France) and Distruction Boys (South Africa).

Kendrick Lamar took home the most prizes overall, for Best Male Hip-hop Artist and Album of the Year for DAMN.

Beyonce was crowned Best Female RnB/Pop Artist, while Anita Baker received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
