UK ISPs block more than 100 copyright-infringing sites

Copyright-symbol-largeThe High Court has ordered six UK Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block more than 100 websites which enable piracy.

Download destinations including rnbxclusive.se, plixid.com and mp3.li will be subject to blocks following a court order obtained by the BPI, TorrentFreak has reported.

This latest round expands the UK’s current list by 17 and brings the total number of blocked sites 110.

The majority of sites on the list are mp3 search engines, but megasearch.co, a search engine for finding files on Kim Dotcom’s Mega cloud service, also features.

Following the High Court ruling, Sky, BT and Virgin have already implemented the blocks, and other ISPs are expected to do so in the coming days.

The sealed court order hasn’t been released to the public but the list of 17 sites was confirmed to TorrentFreak by one of the major ISPs.

The BPI, in partnership with UK collecting society PPL, started efforts in 2012 to get copyright infringing websites blocked. Since then, the block-list has continued to grow.
