Youth Music launches Give A Gig

Youth-MusicYouth Music’s new Give A Gig initiative calls on musicians and promoters to put on live music events to help disadvantaged children and young people.

Give A Gig will encourage music lovers to host gigs to raise money to enable disadvantaged children to access potentially life-changing musical opportunities.

The campaign’s website will enable bands, performers and venue owners to promote their event.

The site will also host ticketing and venue information, music videos, gig news, info on how to put on a gig and an online area for fans to submit reviews. A percentage of the proceeds from any Give A Gig events will be given to the charity.

Jen Long, presenter of BBC Introducing at Radio 1 and previous Youth Music ambassador,  said: I’m supporting Give a Gig because Youth Music is one of the few charities that puts music at the core of its work, using it to help thousands of disadvantaged children every year.’

Matt Griffith, Youth Music’s executive director, added: ‘We hope this fundraising campaign offers great flexibility to music fans who might like to give to a charity that uses music to help change lives. We don’t mind who you are or where you are, we welcome all Give a Gig supporters regardless of the size of the gig, the type of music or the amount of money raised. Of course, the bigger the better, but most of all we want people to have fun performing and attending gigs.’
