Leading virtual reality music content creator MelodyVR has signed an agreement with Sony/ATV, EMI Music Publishing and Solar Music Rights.
The multi-year agreement licenses the virtual reality distribution of Sony/ATV songwriters’ music and increases MelodyVR’s library of original content across Europe.
Sony/ATV currently boasts a catalogue of more than three million copyrights, including classic songs from The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Carole King, Queen and the Rolling Stones. Its contemporary catalogue includes Taylor Swift, Pharrell Williams, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran.
Since 2012, Sony/ATV has administered EMI Music Publishing. Solar Music Rights administers the combined Anglo-American catalogues of both companies for online and mobile licensing across the EU and other regions.
Anthony Matchett, executive chairman of MelodyVR parent company EVR Holdings, said: ‘I’m very pleased to announce our European agreement with Sony/ATV, the world’s largest music publishing company.
‘This agreement which covers music from many of the world’s top songwriters, is vital to the success of our platform and we’re pleased to have entered into a longterm partnership.’
