Eric Mackay has been promoted to the role of executive vice president, global digital strategy, at Warner/Chappell.

Mackay will be responsible for leading the publisher’s international digital strategy and overseeing its global digital team, which handles relations with established and emerging digital service providers.

Based in London, he will continue to report directly to Jon Platt, chairman and chief executive of Warner/Chappell Music.

Platt said: ‘Our mission is to grow, reward and sustain a thriving creative community of songwriters, whose songs power an entire global entertainment ecosystem. That’s what makes this such an important appointment; Eric’s strong relationships in the digital world and deep understanding of technology will help us open new opportunities that properly recognise the value of songwriting and music. Eric is part of a new generation of future-focused music executives, and I’m very pleased to acknowledge his unique talents as a member of our senior leadership team.’

Mackay added: ‘I’m delighted to be working with Jon Platt and the fantastic digital team at Warner/Chappell and I’m incredibly excited about developing our truly global digital strategy.

‘There are a vast number of innovative services who are inventing different ways for fans to enjoy music and our goal is to partner with them to help drive more revenues and exposure for our stellar roster of songwriters. We’re at a crucial time, with digital services better appreciating the pivotal role songwriting plays in their success, and I believe we’re the publisher of choice for songwriters looking to maximize the value of their works through digital platforms.’

Mackay joined Warner/Chappell in 2015 as head of digital, Europe. He was promoted to vice president, digital, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia-Pacific in September 2016. Before joining the publisher, Mackay worked at companies including Vevo, CELAS, White Noise and Integral Management.
