With the biggest music festival on the planet now just days away, we’re turning our ears towards the top drawer new talent set to grace its stages this year.
Tune in to the eight winners and runners-up of the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition, an annual shindig to uncover some of the UK’s most promising new artists.
Previous finalists and winners, including Declan McKenna, She Drew The Gun, TUSK and Yizzy, have since gone on to make BBC Sound Of polls…, bag label deals or make serious waves in their genres – and this year looks like a bumper crop too.
Hastings singer-songwriter Marie White took the main prize, which includes a slot on one of the festival’s main stages, plus a £5,000 talent development bursary from PRS Foundation, the organisation which co-presents the competition, alongside PRS for Music and Glastonbury’s Michael and Emily Eavis.
Second place went to MC Che Lingo and third place to electro-pop group Swimming Girls. Both acts receive a £2,500 support from PRS Foundation. Other finalists include Iiola, Yamaya, Roma Palace, Shunaji and LIINES, with all of them playing at the festival this year.
